Variations in wood coloring, spalting and a knot hole on one side characterize this unique work.  Variations in shrinkage of the wood fibers when they dried left the bowl slightly oval with a symmetrically bowed rim.  The maple was sourced in Germantown, TN, and the bowl was finished simply in food safe mineral oil and beeswax.
