This is no ordinary piece of wood. The medium size Bradford pear bowl has a "live edge" with bark along two sections of rim. It is cut from a branching portion of the tree with that region's characteristic intermeshed grain, most visible in the photo of the bottom of the bowl. Fungi have left dark spalting lines. Finally, one side displays significant flame cross patterns. It is finished in Tung Oil Finish and buffed with carnauba wax. The bowl is somewhat oval and bowed on the bottom from drying. The wood was sourced in Rison, AR, not far from the birthplace of Johnny Cash.
