Water Oak's grain is tighter and smoother than other red oak trees.  This bowl has a solid feel and heft.  The size is right for salad for 2-3 people or vegetables for 4 or more. The bi-colored patterning of the grain gives it decorative appeal.  As the freshly turned bowl dried, it took on an oval shape and a bow to the rim - these effects are symmetrical and appear as part of the design.  The wood was sourced in West Tennessee, and the bowl was finished with Tung Oil Finish
