This is no ordinary piece of wood.  The medium size Bradford pear bowl has a full "live edge" with bark along the rim.  It is cut from a branching portion of the tree with that region's characteristic intermeshed grain, visible in the bottom of the bowl.  Finally, fungi have left a few dark spalting lines.  It is finished in Tung Oil Finish and buffed with carnauba wax.  The bowl is somewhat oval and bowed on the bottom from drying. The wood was sourced in Rison, AR, not far from the birthplace of Johnny Cash.
