A large maple tree taken down in a landscaping project in Germantown, TN provided the wood for this very interesting bowl.  Limited decay in the tree decorated the wood with spalting and rustic knots that the artist was able to use to adorn the rim of the bowl.  The inward sloping rim draws the eye to the spalted patterning on the interior.  The rim also has a natural cup shape that developed as the wood fully dried.  The bowl was finished only with food safe mineral oil and beewax.
