The grain patterns in this small elm plate are mezmerizing.  They arise in the region of trees where major branches form, and are readily apparent in the top and bottom views of this work.  The plate has a slight natural bow to it from air drying.  It is finished with Tung Oil Finish and polished with carnauba wax.
